Snow Moon Self-Care: Collecting Your Thoughts

As the outside world becomes colder and the days become darker, the Snow Moon reminds us to come inside, slow down, and trust in the work we have put in the last few months while we settle in for the coming snow. Spend time with yourself, brainstorm new ideas and dreams, reflect on the past year. Collect your thoughts, feelings, ideas by journaling.

How and What?

The definite first step is to get yourself a journal or notebook of some kind. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy. I can be as simple as a spiral or composition notebook, or even a legal pad of paper. There are even journaling apps you can get on your phone, so you always have it with you. As long as it is something that can keep all your entries together and in a place you can easily come back to later, then it is perfect.

As to what you should journal about, there really is no limit. You can write detailed entries about what you did during the day. Entries could be a complete stream of consciousness; anything and everything that comes to mind. You could doodle or draw brainstorming bubble charts. It could be a simple list of feelings or tasks that need completing. Your journaling experience is a personal activity to help you work through situations, emotions, goals, tasks, etc. It's an opportunity to organize your mind. Declutter your thoughts.

There is no pressure for how long, how detailed, how articulate, etc your journaling “should” be. This is your journal. Your journey. Your self-care. Do what is best for you. Whatever helps you is exactly what you “should” be doing.

Remember. You deserve to care for yourself, inside and out. Take that time. You are incredible. You can do it. Have a wonderful Snow Moon! I love you.
