Flower Full Moon Self-Care: Blooming by Letting Go

May’s full moon is named the Flower Moon as it is a time of growth, blooming, and moving forward. Just as flowers push through the dark dirt to burst through to bloom in the sun, we must push through some of our darkness to move forward in personal growth.

We all carry darkness with us. Some will stay with us through our life journey. But other darkness, we can work through. We can let it go, allowing us to move forward more freely.

First, sit with yourself and find what energy is no longer serving you. It can be a habit. It can be a person. It can be a recurring thought. It can be big or small. Just find something that is holding you back from blooming.

Now the work to let this darkness go will differ per person. Some will need to create physical distance from a person or place. Some will need to create a consistent plan to break a habit. Some will need to ask for help from a therapist to assist in guiding them through certain emotions. The personal path you will take to work through your darkness is one you will need to discover on your own. But there are things everyone can remember while working through the darkness preparing to move forward and bloom.

Feel it all.

During this work, negative emotions will come. Fear. Sadness. Guilt. Shame. Anger. Don’t run from them. Feel them. Notice where in your body you feel them. Allow them their time. Feeling it all is an important part of truly letting things go. Remember these feelings might not be fun, but they are not bad.

Surround yourself with people who fill you up.

Letting go of things that no longer serve you is hard. It can be tiring, frustrating, and bring up difficult feelings. Have people around you that make you happy. Make you feel loved. Who fill up your cup. Remember to spend time with those people. Allow them to support you and love you.

Be gentle with yourself.

Growth and letting go is hard work. There is no right way to do it. There is no correct time frame. Remember you are doing your best. You are showing up. You are putting in the work. Take it day by day. You are doing better than you think. So be kind to yourself. Be patient. Be loving. You’ve got this.

Remember. You deserve to care for yourself, inside and out. Take that time. You are incredible. You can do it. Have a wonderful Pink Moon! I love you.
